Jamaica’s Cathy Levy discovered Tamika’s exceptional talents at the tender age of 9 and selected her to become a member of the prestigious ‘Little People and Teen Player’s Club.’ Through this performing arts company, Tamika gained experience as a chorister, thespian and dancer specializing in contemporary/modern, lyrical and Afro-Caribbean based genres. She appeared on local television and radio ads and played the role of an enslaved girl (Tia) in the film, The Wide Sargasso Sea (1993).
Shortly after migrating to Canada, Tamika gained two pageant titles: Miss Jamaica-Canada (1997) and Miss Black World Canada (2001) respectively.
Tamika has aimed to stay connected with her Caribbean roots through her involvement with the Caribbean Dance Theatre (2002-2011), Dance Caribe Performing Company (2012- present) and La Riatsila Dance Theatre.
Tamika is a Special Education Resource Teacher who also co-facilitates an extra – curricular dance club at her school. She is very thrilled to be back on stage playing the role of young Sarah.
